It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the vacant position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Data Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ref Id:<\/strong> 1803238<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Maiduguri, Borno<br \/>\n<strong>Grade:<\/strong> NO-B<br \/>\n<strong>Contractual Arrangement:<\/strong> Temporary appointment under Staff Rule 420.4<br \/>\n<strong>Contract duration:<\/strong> 6 months<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives of the Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The objective of the EPI programme is to support national authorities to provide high quality immunization services that will contribute to:\n<ul>\n<li>The reduction of mortality, morbidity and disability from vaccine preventable diseases through the optimum use of available and new vaccines and<\/li>\n<li>The strengthening of national health systems as well as efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Description of Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide all round GIS support including accessibility, Vaccination Tracking System (VTS)<\/li>\n<li>Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly analysis feedback from data to enhance decision making at state and LGA level<\/li>\n<li>Represent WHO in the Borno State EOC Data Team and support the state EOC with data presentation, analysis and interpretation.<\/li>\n<li>Create and secure back-up copies of data in the state.<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical data management support to the state government.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct data management training to build the capacity of officers. Perform other activities as required by the supervisor<\/li>\n<li>Establish, maintain and up-date databases pertaining to each programmatic area in EPI\/PEI<\/li>\n<li>Perform data validation and cleaning on all data received before forwarding to the zone and national level (surveillance, IPDs, RI, Special Intervention, HTR, accessibility, IDP Camps and other data sets).<\/li>\n<li>Provide regular feedback on data quality, timeliness and completeness to CCs and LGAFs for action.<\/li>\n<li>Track and obtain missing or incomplete data\/reports and provide feedback to relevant levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications<br \/>\n<\/strong>Education:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Essential: University Degree in Statistics, Information Systems and Communication Technology, or other relevant fields from recognized institution<\/li>\n<li>Desirable: Training in public health data management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Essential: At two years relevant experience including field experience in data management\/GIS.<\/li>\n<li>Desirable: Experience in public health especially in immunization activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Skills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to work effectively with colleagues at national and international levels;\u00c2\u0178 Ability to provide leadership, monitor progress and design technical communication materials;Fully conversant in word-processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, epidemiological (Epiifo) and mapping software.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>WHO Competencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Producing results<\/li>\n<li>Teamwork<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring the effective use of resources<\/li>\n<li>Building and promoting partnerships across the organization and beyond<\/li>\n<li>Driving the Organization\u2019s Position in Health Leadership<\/li>\n<li>Use of Language Skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remuneration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at NGN 15,384,565 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/careers.who.int\/careersection\/ex\/jobdetail.ftl?job=1803238&amp;tz=GMT%2B01%3A00\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here to apply<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0<\/strong>26th July, 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This vacancy notice may be used to fill other similar positions at the same grade level<\/li>\n<li>Only candidates under serious consideration will be contacted.<\/li>\n<li>A written test may be used as a form of screening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Health Organization (WHO) is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system.
