We promote family-friendly flexible working opportunities, where operational and security needs allow.<\/p>\n<p>We are are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Entry Clearance Officer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Ref:<\/strong> 11\/18 ABJ<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Abuja, Nigeria<br \/>\n<strong>Grade:<\/strong> B3 (L)<br \/>\n<strong>Type of Position:<\/strong> Fixed Term<br \/>\n<strong>Duration of Post:<\/strong> 12 months<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe main duties will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assessing visa applications in a fair, objective and courteous\u00a0 manner.<\/li>\n<li>Making quick and pragmatic decisions to issue and refuse visas in accordance with the Immigration Rules, and within agreed time-scales.<\/li>\n<li>Dealing with correspondence and other enquiries from applicants, sponsors and members of the public. Preparing well-presented and accurate replies, written in plain English, within target times.<\/li>\n<li>Preparing written statements and paperwork related to the appeals process, and making sure that they are also well presented and accurate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable Qualifications and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience as an Entry Clearance Officer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Essential qualifications and experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ability to remain customer focused, polite and courteous under pressure.<\/li>\n<li>The ability to work quickly and reliably with little supervision to meet challenging targets.<\/li>\n<li>The capability of making quick decisions, in accordance with set rules and the ability to show that these decisions are fair and just.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work well under pressure.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent team players \u2013 this is an all for one, and one for all environment.<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility and a positive attitude to working in a forward thinking, modern and motivated department, which is working at the forefront of visa work. We are committed to improving standards and procedures \u2013 and we are looking for like-minded employees.<\/li>\n<li>To effectively represent the Visa Section, the British High Commission, and the UK Government as a whole.<\/li>\n<li>We are looking for a candidate who meets the criteria listed below with good oral and written communication skills.
