With robust positions in each of our regional markets, our future looks equally bright too.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Merchandiser<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Number:<\/strong> 4010<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Makurdi, Benue<br \/>\n<strong>Function:<\/strong> Marketing &amp; Sales<br \/>\n<strong>Level:<\/strong> Non-management<br \/>\n<strong>Appointment Type: <\/strong>Permanent<\/p>\n<p><strong>Details<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>British American Tobacco is looking for Merchandisers to join our rural team in Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>Our merchandiser team implement brand and trade programmes according to cycle plan in outlets located primarily within the rural market, They ensure the effective and efficient execution of marketing activities in the defined territory and extended coverage area. Also, they gather\/ provide ideas on how to develop retail Touch-points (Retail clusters, redistribution hubs, etc) in the rural markets<\/li>\n<li>Role also serves as part of a \u2018Tactical Response Team\u2019, positioned to address situations arising within the market, as well as business needs, in this regard, direction to be provided by Area Manager or Regional Manager.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Principal Accountabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitor brand performance in outlets within rural markets (BAT\u2019s and competitors\u2019).<\/li>\n<li>Engage local government officials, transport\/ traffic agencies and other stakeholders to avoid disruption of BAT operations in the defined rural territory.<\/li>\n<li>Improve the company\u2019s corporate image by operating at the highest business ethics, environmental, health and safety standards using the IMS as a guide.<\/li>\n<li>Support Van Reps to achieve high performance by developing new routes and giving TM&amp;D support to existing outlets.<\/li>\n<li>Execute basic TM&amp;D (Trade Marketing and Development) activities in the outlets located within the territory in order to meet company objectives as described in the cycle plan (visibility, availability, freshness, consumer contacting etc).<\/li>\n<li>Develop and adhere to a well-defined work programme and route plan as agreed with Area Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Achieve volume and distribution targets through direct selling (Top-up stock) and monitoring of van sales.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure objectives in terms of availability, visibility, volume, stock quality and RRP (Recommended Retail Price) compliance of products are achieved for the territory.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain an up-to-date detailed database of all customers (including phone numbers and home addresses).<\/li>\n<li>Provide data and maintain accurate records on competitor\u2019s activities, sales and distribution performance in order to guarantee that Area Manager is fully informed at all times.<\/li>\n<li>Manage all assigned funds, materials and equipment in a secure and efficient manner in order to maximise the use of organisation assets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maximum 2 years of experience.<\/li>\n<li>Maximum Higher National Diploma in a Commerical or Marketing related field.<\/li>\n<li>The most important performance metrics which will be evaluated are:<\/li>\n<li>Volume and Distribution targets<\/li>\n<li>OTIF implementation of trade marketing activities<\/li>\n<li>Visibility targets<\/li>\n<li>Competition\/Counterfeit tracking and reporting<\/li>\n<li>Functional Knowledge &amp; Skills.<\/li>\n<li>Valid driving license.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Rural towns and road networks is desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of the local languages in territory is a plus.<\/li>\n<li>Managerial &amp; Interpersonal Skills.<\/li>\n<li>Selling Skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/careers.bat.com\/job\/Makurdi-Merchandiser\/488632901\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here to apply<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>British American Tobacco is all about freedom of choice \u2013 whether it\u2019s our people or our products.
