{"id":62940,"date":"2018-08-30T15:40:47","date_gmt":"2018-08-30T14:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/?p=62940"},"modified":"2018-08-30T14:56:49","modified_gmt":"2018-08-30T13:56:49","slug":"department-international-development-dfid-new-job-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/department-international-development-dfid-new-job-opening.html","title":{"rendered":"Department for International Development (DFID) New Job Opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department for International Development (DFID) leads the UK\u2019S fight against global poverty, delivering aid to those in need all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Department for International Development (DFID) in Nigeria is responsible for managing the British Government\u2019s contribution to development in Nigeria, with the objective of supporting government and development partners at federal and state levels to reduce poverty and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n<p>Application are invited for the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0A2L Conflict Adviser<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong>\u00a0Nigeria<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, experienced and committed Nigerian professional to become a Conflict Adviser for DFID Nigeria, supporting the work of the wider British Mission in Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>She\/he will promote conflict prevention and peacebuilding across the British Mission and engage in a brood range of issues, including inter- communal conflict resolution, DDR, reconciliation, security and justice, stabilisation and tackling structural drivers of conflict She\/he will provide technical advice to DFlDs conflict and security programmes, as well as ensuring the conflict sensitive implementation of humanitarian and development programmes. She\/he will work to ensure that all the UK\u2019s work in Nigeria is informed by a robust analysis of conflict and its causes.<\/li>\n<li>The successful candidate will become part of the Governance and Social Development team, working closely with its members as well as other relevant colleagues across DAD and the wider mission, She\/he will report directly to the A2 conflict adviser, who wilt provide support and mentorship to ensure a positive transition into DFID, the mission and the conflict cadre. The post holder will piay a key role in building strong relationships and influencing key actors in relevant states on a range of programmes and policy issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Purpose of the Job<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Effectively influence the approach of Nigerian Government officials, development partners and civil society to address conflict related issues.<\/li>\n<li>Assist the UK Risk Management Office to manage operating and programmatic risks.<\/li>\n<li>Support the wider DFID Conflict Cadre through participation in annual professional conferences, as well as providing\u201dsupport to advisers in other offices as part of the conflict cadre.<\/li>\n<li>Provide robust and strategic conflict analysis to inform British Government policies and programmes in Nigeria. Provide quality crosscutting conflict advice for DFID and for programmes funded by the cross-government Conflict, Security and Stability Fund (CSSF).<\/li>\n<li>Support the implementation and monitoring of key programmes in conflict prevention, stabilisation, security and justice, working closely with lead advisers in Abuja.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure conflict sensitive programming and delivery of DFID governance, humanitarian, economic growth and human development policies and programmes.<\/li>\n<li>Support UK information sharing and policy development on conflict dynamics, incidents and analysis across the British Mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Educational Qualifications and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of a Masters level qualification in Peacebuilding, Development, Political Science, Social Sciences or a related field, from a recognised University or equivalent experience\/academic work.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum three years experience in the field of conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Salaries are reviewed annually in accordance with local Pay Determination Guidelines.
