NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world\u2019s largest standby rosters, NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours\u2019 notice when a crisis occurs.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Coordinator \u2013 Education<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong>\u00a0Maiduguri, Borno<br \/>\n<strong>Reports to:<\/strong> Education Programme Development Manager<br \/>\n<strong>Supervision of:<\/strong> Education Officers<br \/>\n<strong>Travel:<\/strong> 50%<br \/>\n<strong>Project number:<\/strong> NGFM1802, &amp; NGFM1801<br \/>\n<strong>Duration and type of contract:<\/strong> 12 Months (Till 31st December 2019)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NRC is looking for an Education Coordinator for our area office in Maiduguri in Northern Nigeria. The purpose of the Education Coordinator is to support programme activities in Maidugur and in the sub-field offices of Borno State.<\/li>\n<li>NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja. NRC is currently providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH); Livelihoods and Food Security; Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) and Education in order to address identified humanitarian needs.<\/li>\n<li>The Education Coordinator reports to the Education Programme Development Manager.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adherence to NRC policies, guidelines and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to Education strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps<\/li>\n<li>Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Education projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from Programme Development Manager in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality<\/li>\n<li>Provide regular progress reports to Programme Development Manager<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist<\/li>\n<li>Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills<\/li>\n<li>Promote the rights of IDPs\/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy<\/li>\n<li>Works to establish temporary learning spaces and rehabilitate learning spaces, ensuring child friendly environments<\/li>\n<li>Works to identify, mobilise, and train teachers or paraprofessionals<\/li>\n<li>Works to re-establish quality Alternative Learning Programme (ALP), Youth Education Programme and primary \/ formal education<\/li>\n<li>Lead the Education emergency team in ensuring that all objectives are achieved in a timely manner and according to emergency response plan.<\/li>\n<li>In absence of the Programme Development Manager Liaise and maintain excellent working relationships with the Education Cluster members, representing NRC at meetings and Education forums, particularly in the Education Cluster<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of University Degree in related field and must be currently engaged in the Education sector and be conversant with Nigerian Education curricular<\/li>\n<li>Experience from working in an Education project implementation position in a humanitarian\/ recovery context<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts<\/li>\n<li>Documented results related to the position\u2019s responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge about own leadership skills\/profile<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English, both written and verbal<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the Education context in N.E Nigeria and the specific programme area<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Hausa \/ Kanuri (local language) is an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Experience with ongoing programme implementation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Education field:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Education level:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>College \/ University, Bachelor\u2019s Degree<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Personal Qualities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Handling insecure environment<\/li>\n<li>Planning and delivering results<\/li>\n<li>Empowering and building trust<\/li>\n<li>Communicating with impact and respect<\/li>\n<li>A good sense of humour is an asset<\/li>\n<li>All employees of the Norwegian Refugee Council should be able to adhere to our Code of Conduct and the four organizational values: Dedicated, innovative, inclusive and accountable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Language:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>English<\/li>\n<li>Hausa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We Offer<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commencement: October 2018<\/li>\n<li>Duration: 12 months<\/li>\n<li>Salary\/benefits: According to NRC\u2019s general directions \u2013 Grade Level 7 Step1.<\/li>\n<li>Duty station: Borno State, with frequent travels.
