In that time, we have built strong relationships in the sectors that are driving the continent\u2019s economic growth; helping them stay connected across Africa, and to the rest of the world.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Lead VSAT Engineer<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong>\u00a0Lagos<br \/>\n<strong>Job type:<\/strong> Full-time<br \/>\n<strong>Employment Type:<\/strong> Permanent<br \/>\n<strong>Department:<\/strong> Operations Department<br \/>\n<strong>Reporting to:<\/strong> Lagos &amp; South West Operations Manager<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Accountabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand Cisco Wireless VoIP, Wireless Controllers, and autonomous and lightweight Access Points<\/li>\n<li>Experience managing, supporting and deploying network infrastructures<\/li>\n<li>Strong ability to diagnose server or network alerts, events or issues<\/li>\n<li>In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP\/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing and interpreting block and level diagrams and architure framework<\/li>\n<li>Efficiency in Spectrum Management Tools, with an ability to isolate interference, noise level changes and satellite anomalies to include local and remote spectrum analyzers.<\/li>\n<li>Reviews trouble tickets and performs trouble trending analysis<\/li>\n<li>Prepares periodic operational reports depicting achieved service levels<\/li>\n<li>Manages the troubleshooting of issues escalated to the Tier 3 Operations team<\/li>\n<li>Available for domestic and international travel up to 20%<\/li>\n<li>Other assigned work as and when required to support operations and Projects<\/li>\n<li>Lead network activity for mobilizations and demobilization\u2019s while updating all documentation and systems pertaining to defined activity<\/li>\n<li>Troubleshoot RF and IP components of maritime VSAT\/ESV systems using specialized software and test equipment. Interpret troubleshooting results and determine best course of action to restore operability in least time possible and most cost effective manner.<\/li>\n<li>Installation, configuration, testing and troubleshooting communication equipment including satellite modems, transceivers, BUC\u2019s, LNB\u2019s, Stabilized antennas (SeaTel, Orbit, Intellian), and out of band management.<\/li>\n<li>Provide Tier III assistance and interface with iDirect &amp; liaise with TAC for high level incident resolution.<\/li>\n<li>Provides technical training and assistance to junior level personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Provide team scheduling for normal and off hours.<\/li>\n<li>Plan and schedule major network migrations and upgrades.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Roles \/ Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Job holder is responsible for providing onsite &amp; remote technical support for the purpose of the installation, repair and maintenance of terrestrial systems and satellite earth stations\/VSAT\/ESV terminals in both fixed and stabilized environments at customer locations located anywhere in the world.<\/li>\n<li>The preferred candidate must have Bachelor\u2019s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or related discipline from a reputable university.<\/li>\n<li>The job requires 7-10 years post NYSC experience working on VSAT technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Possession of CCNA, LAN, WAN, Voice, and Security Technologies qualification will be an added advantage<\/li>\n<li>Indepth Knowledge of TCP\/IP network protocols following the OSI model, Spectrum Analyzers and BER Test Equipment<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Basics RF (Satellite\/Microwave) communications and IP Networking using Cisco<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competency<\/strong><br \/>\nKey strength:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent time management and organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects with minimal supervision<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to address conflict with others constructively<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Disaster Recovery plans and related technologies<\/li>\n<li>Solid background in network administration and architecture<\/li>\n<li>Self-organized, problem solving skills, technical background, communications skills, client relations management, conflict resolution and planning skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should send a copy of their CV\u2019s to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:careersng@vodacom.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>careersng@vodacom.com<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0<\/strong>5th October, 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0You will be contacted if you are qualified for the job.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vodacom Business, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Vodacom Group, is a leading pan-African corporate connectivity and telecommunications provider that has brought affordable and reliable connectivity to Africa since 1992.
