We have for mission to inspire and empower people, governments, institutions, corporations, organisations to engage in positive change through mental health advocacy, support, accreditation and training.<\/p>\n<p>Our motivation is to promote, defend, develop, implement and take all necessary actions to ensure and protect the Mental Health Well-Being of Nigerians. The World Health Organization has demonstrated that Mental Health problems will take the lead of the most devastating non-communicable illnesses by 2030 if we continue to ignore the alarming sings of deterioration of quality of life and risks affiliated to that deterioration.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Grants Officer \u2013 Intern (Nationals Only)<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong>\u00a0Abuja<br \/>\n<strong>Status:<\/strong> Volunteer<br \/>\n<strong>Slot:<\/strong> 3 Openings<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nSummary<\/strong><br \/>\nBased in Abuja, partner of the Ministry of Health and the National University Commission of Nigeria, AMHACI has important objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AMHACI has also developed 2 specific programs: 1. \u2018HEADS\u2019UP to encourage the accreditation of mental health professionals and NGO\u2019s willing to reach international standards of practices and get an international recognition. 2. DREAMS\u2019UP is designed to intervene in each State and provide support to all layers of the communities and everywhere on its territory, where a response is needed and where we can sow hope with various entrepreneurial projects related to the protection of environment.<\/li>\n<li>In its progression of deployment, AMHACI is opening 3 internship positions. These positions are to begin as soon as possible with a mandate of 10 weeks, with the possibility to fill new vacant positions January 1st.<\/li>\n<li>To advocate for a national MH strategy and mental health policies;<\/li>\n<li>To build MH programs and services inline with international standards to improve social and mental health;<\/li>\n<li>To engage in research to understand the specific needs and gaps in the population;<\/li>\n<li>To train on mental health and other related fields of expertise to reduce stigmatization, false beliefs &amp; perceptions and improve accessibility of service and prevention programs;<\/li>\n<li>To protect the rights of the psychologically vulnerable and\/or affected\/traumatized\/stigmatized persons and communities including individuals suffering from the wrongful use and \/or abuse of drugs and other substances for the protection, preservation and the restitution of the inalienable right to the dignity of the Human Being by, and through advocacy and where necessary criminal and civil litigation is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In doing so, the position contributes to achieving AMHACI\u2019s objective of increasing its external income, and maintains AMHACI\u2019s good reputation for effective and efficient grant management and administration.<\/li>\n<li>We are looking for candidates who have already an international NGO experience. Each candidate must have his own working tools. Beyond the profile of competences and experiences, all candidates must comply with the AMHACI philosophy based on empowerment and its values : Empathy, humility, integrity and excellence.<\/li>\n<li>The internship program is set for 32 hours a week, provided with calling &amp; traveling expenses coverage. A certificate of internship is provided upon a full completion.<\/li>\n<li>The Grants Officer provides proactive and oriented support in searching all types of competitive research and development grants from various sources of funding. The incumbent coordinates the receipt, acknowledgement and tracking of grant applications and the assignment of these applications to internal reviewers. But the recent findings are now correlating mental health to numerous health-related problems but also social and economical instability. Mental health problems at early stage are greatly challenged by the invisibility or underlying symptoms we relate wrongly too often as normal emotional state. Before getting to a stage of formal mental health diagnosis, in most cases, there are lengthy progression by repeated exposition to conducive factors. Distress, frustrations, trauma, non-managed feelings, anger, feelings of unfairness are adding up to other stress everyone confronts daily. The limits of tolerance are set by psychological parameters we don\u2019t control neither decide. To avoid catastrophic outcomes, in a country where there are so much needs, AMHACI invests in prevention to decrease the footprint left by addiction, conflicts even corruption, considered human destructive behaviours with serious collateral damages. This includes working with key members of the project team to organise global level advocacy activities, events and communications outputs to share progress, learning and challenges of the project in support of the achievement of its goals.<\/li>\n<li>Beyond the responsibility for planning, developing and disseminating reports, briefs and publications, the ERM Officer will be responsible to organize and plan the International Mental Health Symposium and other important events. The post holder must be capable to engage with different media outputs and managing content of the website in collaboration with the Communication Team.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible of the image of AHMACI, its reputation based on integrity, the ERM Officer will do monitoring and evaluating the impact of advocacy, communications and resource mobilisation activities at a global level, in alignment with existing M&amp;E tools.<\/li>\n<li>We are looking for a candidate that is passionate about his work, professional and dedicated, preferably with already an international NGO experience.
