Its activities are based on the principles of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equality of rights and opportunities, respect for diversity and coexistence, paying special attention to the most vulnerable people.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Protection Officer<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong>\u00a0Bama, Dikwa, Ngala, Magumeri, Baga; Borno<br \/>\n<strong>Reporting to:<\/strong> Protection Coordinator and Project Manager<br \/>\n<strong>Collaborations:<\/strong> Protection monitoring team, Social workers, Health and Nutrition team, GBV and CP case workers<br \/>\n<strong>Starting date:<\/strong> 01\/11\/2018<br \/>\n<strong>Status:<\/strong> Full time<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Acting as a focal point for reporting GBV concerns, including physical or sexual abuse, violence or exploitation;<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating activities within the community in prevention of GBV;<\/li>\n<li>Engaging in discussions\/dialogue sessions with women, girls and boys on the issues that affect them on an ongoing basis and working with the community to find or develop appropriate solutions;<\/li>\n<li>Supporting and promoting the genuine participation of women and girls in decision-making that affects their lives \u2013 in part by modelling good practices of communication between women and men;<\/li>\n<li>Supervise the conduction of individual interviews and facilitate participatory protection field assessment \u2013 applying the Age, Gender and Diversity approach to fully understand the displaced population in its diversity, their protection concerns and priorities, and the resources available to them.<\/li>\n<li>Support the collection of information\/data about vulnerability, protection needs and concerns of the targeted population.<\/li>\n<li>Act as focal point for the identification and referral of Extremely Vulnerable Individuals and People with Specific Protection Needs for adequate assistance according to INTERSOS pre-defined criteria.<\/li>\n<li>Manage individual protection cases, including maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent.<\/li>\n<li>Update case files on individual developments, following international SOPs and ensuring beneficiaries\u2019 data are protected.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct follow-up monitoring visits to ensure that needs have been met in an appropriate manner and beneficiary have the opportunity to provide feedback on the assistance received.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure dissemination of clear and reliable information on service provision and other preselected key topics.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the establishment\/maintenance of a referral pathway, respectful of the confidentiality principle and international SOPs.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and timely submit activity plans and reports to hierarchy.<\/li>\n<li>Provide constant feedback to supervisor on progress, lesson learnt, achievements and gaps, issues and problems.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with relevant public authorities and services providers in order to foster effective collaboration and encourage national interest and ownership in protection of IDPs, refugees and other persons of concern.<\/li>\n<li>Any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Managers and Protection Coordinator;<\/li>\n<li>Conduct duties in accordance with INTERSOS Nigeria programme and protection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);<\/li>\n<li>Conduct duties in strict accordance with INTERSOS Code of Conduct and the principle of confidentiality.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure \u2013 through clear weekly and monthly work plans \u2013 protection monitoring and field assessment activities are carried out in a timely, effective and technically sound manner.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise gathering data on the types of GBV risks faced by women and children and the ability of both families and the community to provide care for and meet the needs of GBV survivors;<\/li>\n<li>Identifying vulnerable women and children and trying to understand the reasons or causes of their vulnerability;<\/li>\n<li>Respect the standards of confidentially at all times<\/li>\n<li>Mapping out the resources or services that can provide support to women, girls, men and boys also families in order to verify also existing self-protection and coping structures amongst the beneficiaries;<\/li>\n<li>Referring GBV survivors to the case workers in order to address their needs, such as access to welfare support, medical attention, food, shelter and education among others;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Qualifications and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prior experience or familiarity with NGO sector would be an advantage;<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards, with special emphasis on women rights and SGBV, would be a distinct advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Good spoken and written English and relevant computer skills. Local language fluency required.<\/li>\n<li>A high respect to client\/organization confidentiality.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for people with special needs and other vulnerability.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.<\/li>\n<li>Relevant protection professional experience of three (2) years, preferably in emergency and\/or development context;<\/li>\n<li>Prior experience working in Protection, GBV and CP<\/li>\n<li>Prior experience or familiarity with persons of concern (including internally displaced persons and refugees-returnees) would be a distinct advantage;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Competency profile:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Independent work, i.e. with minimal supervision and under pressure;<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivation, goal\/result-orientation and team work;<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility, creativeness, tolerance and maturity.<\/li>\n<li>Computer\/IT literacy (OS Windows\/Vista\/Linux, MS Office, Internet etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Experience in management of a team;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analysis and reporting skills;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication and organization skills;<\/li>\n<li>Punctuality and respect for applicable rules and procedures;<\/li>\n<li>Ethical and transparent decision-making;<\/li>\n<li>High regard toward preserving confidentiality of work-related information and data;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent knowledge and understanding of local communities and customary rules;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeLz9spB2VfMuJ_3HFIgNlUh393JYaYncl122N-HJpkUMEvEQ\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here to apply<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INTERSOS is an independent humanitarian organization that assists the victims of natural disasters, armed conflicts and exclusion.
