From a single country organisation founded in 1949 in Nigeria, UBA has grown to become a Pan-African provider of financial services with over 11 million customers, through close to 1000 business offices and touch points globally.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the vacant position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Head, Operational Risk Management<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Reference #:<\/strong> LAG0006<br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Lagos Island, Lagos<br \/>\n<strong>Contract Type:<\/strong> Permanent<br \/>\n<strong>Job Functions:<\/strong> Management<br \/>\n<strong>Industries:<\/strong> Banking \/ Finance &amp; Investment<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction<\/strong><br \/>\nThis jobs exists for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinating and maintaining accurate and robust loss databases in the Bank in compliance with the Requirements of Basel II Accord and meet Regulatory standards for Operational Risk Capital Calculation by Financial Institutions<\/li>\n<li>Developing for implementation appropriate policies, procedures, systems and controls that will drive the reduction of losses and loss events in the Bank thereby increase the profits<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating the implementation of Continuity of Business in UBA Group<\/li>\n<li>Keeping senior management informed on an ongoing basis of the quality of operational risks, deficiencies, issues and the status of corrective actions relating to risk mitigation proffered<\/li>\n<li>Providing Management with MIS on the Bank\u2019s risk profile to enable informed decision making<\/li>\n<li>Identifying, quantifying and documenting Operational Risks in new and existing products with a focus of reducing inherent Operational Losses and in compliance with the Requirements of the Basel II Accord and Regulatory Authorities for the calculation of Operational Risk Capital Charge \u2013 by Best Practice Banks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\nGovernance \/ Compliance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimize financial losses due to penalties for regulatory breaches and infractions.<\/li>\n<li>Composite Risk Management Rating for each country regulator.<\/li>\n<li>Number of years of complete and accurate operational loss data maintained in the Corporate Loss Database (AMA method)<\/li>\n<li>Risk assessment and treatment procedure result based on BCMS ISO 22301-2012 requirements<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of RCSA\/KRIs. Ensure development\/update and deployment of RCSA\/KRIs Templates as planned<\/li>\n<li>Audit Rating. Internal Audit Rating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Losses &amp; Loss Events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitoring and Reporting on emerging risks and high risk exposures from the losses and loss events, Investigation \/Audit\/Legal\/Customer Service\/Disciplinary Committee reports<\/li>\n<li>Identify emerging\/key risks from loss database based on frequency, impact and control environment and proffering controls\/mitigants to be put in place to forestall recurrence of Operational Losses in the Bank<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate timely and accurate population of loss database by business function.<\/li>\n<li>Proper classification of losses and loss events as per Basel II Accord specifications<\/li>\n<li>Analysis and maintenance of Business Environment &amp; Internal Control Functions (BEICF) database from such sources as Audit exceptions, System Downtime report, Disciplinary Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Customer Service:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Measurement of Customer Satisfaction Index<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Operational Risk Management Awareness:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review of business environment and internal control factors<\/li>\n<li>Identification of trends &amp; Emerging issues from Audit Reports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Business Environment &amp; Internal Control Factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review of business function internal control and internal audit reports<\/li>\n<li>Analysis of issues to identify emerging trend<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>BVN enquiry\/resolution management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide support for customers enquires on multiple BVN enrolment<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of BVN exception database<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of BVN watch-listed\/blacklisted database<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Staff Skill enhancement\/Management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure regular dissemination of awareness on process failures<\/li>\n<li>Control voluntary Attrition rate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nEducational Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First degree in any field<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s Degree or a professional qualification will be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>In depth knowledge of operational risk requirements pertaining to risk mitigation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 9 \u2013 11 years banking experience and business continuity; minimum of 11 \u2013 13 non-banking but related experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>General:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of banking operations<\/li>\n<li>Deep knowledge of the bank\u2019s products, services and processes<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with the current regulatory environment on BCP for financial services industry<\/li>\n<li>Deep knowledge of Basel II Accord.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong><br \/>\nN10,000.00 \u2013 1,000,000.00 Annually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/uba.jb.skillsmapafrica.com\/Job\/Index\/26233\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here to apply<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0<\/strong>23rd November, 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) is one of Africa\u2019s leading financial institutions, with operations in 19 African countries and 3 global financial centres: London, Paris and New York.
