We democratize the right to succeed by giving families living in poverty access to the high-quality education that will allow their children to live a very different life.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Area Manager (Learning and Development Officer)<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong>\u00a0South-South<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Role<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Area Manager (Learning and Development Officer) role at its heart is to ensure that every school is led by talented and passionate school leaders and teachers.<\/li>\n<li>To accomplish this, the L &amp; D Officer is responsible for leading a classroom of teachers or head teachers through an intensive multi-week training to empower them to lead powerful schools.<\/li>\n<li>When not leading training, L &amp; D officers will continue to develop their teachers and head teachers as they conduct support visits in schools to provide intensive coaching and mentoring. You will be responsible for the supervision and supportive management of 10-14 schools. Head teachers will have a direct reporting relationship to you, with whom you will work closely, and for whose behavior in the school you are responsible. You will travel to these schools on a daily basis and be in the field at least 80% of the time. The performance of the head teachers you supervise, and the performance of the teachers in each school, is how your performance will be measured.<\/li>\n<li>You will focus intensely on instructional leadership, including each teacher completing the scheduled lessons each day; on positive classroom and school management without corporal punishment; and school strength through retention, which is a sign of parents\u2019 belief in the positive contribution of the school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What You Will Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Execute the support process for head teachers and teachers\u00a0 to ensure that we understand the current capacity and preparation of school staff and match training to their needs;<\/li>\n<li>Provide professional development to head teachers and teachers, ensuring that each of them has a renewed vision of their role as a changemaker in building the future of their community, state and nation; ensuring that each believes without doubt that every child can learn, and every teacher can succeed in ensuring learning for her class; and ensuring that every head teacher knows that the entire performance of the school is her responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and support great head teachers and teachers by executing all training content during both training and in-school visits with fidelity, ensuring all school staff engage in rigorous and meaningful practice and providing thoughtful feedback and coaching.<\/li>\n<li>Continuously seek ways to improve professional development content, systems and processes by taking initiative and sharing feedback with the L&amp;D team.<\/li>\n<li>The measure of your success will be the learning outcomes delivered by teachers you trained and the overall performance of the group of head teachers you trained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What You Should Have<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A fundamental belief that great teachers are \u201cmade,\u201d not born<\/li>\n<li>Teaching experience is highly valued.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in adult education or other adult training or professional development is highly valued by not mandatory.<\/li>\n<li>Agreement that a teachers performance is measurable by how the children in her classroom learn<\/li>\n<li>Agreement that what enables children to learn can be measured, and that those results should drive decisions in teacher and school leader training and management<\/li>\n<li>A belief that a strong and tested lesson plan that incorporates best practices improves a teachers foundational knowledge and classroom management skills<\/li>\n<li>Belief in systems and best practices should guide school management<\/li>\n<li>Belief that corporal punishment is not an effective disciplinary method<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage a large group of individuals<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to easily form relationships and influence and motivate others<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility and a strong work ethic<\/li>\n<li>Strong organization and time management skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong people management skills \u2013 holding adults to high expectations<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or a strong aptitude to learn new technology<\/li>\n<li>Desire to spend time in schools improving school leaders and teachers performance. The schools are situated in various communities across the state in Nigeria to which you are assigned. As regional manager, you will:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What You Will Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bridge ensures efficient management of its schools through a schools organizational structure that divides schools into regions and territories and assigns management oversight of each region to one manager.<\/li>\n<li>A Learning and Development Supervisor is responsible for the management of a group of schools and Learning and Development (L&amp;D) Supervisors report to a Regional Manager who in turn is responsible for the success of that school region or territory.<\/li>\n<li>The schools are situated in various communities across the state in Nigeria to which you are assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As Regional Manager, you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work closely with a large group of schools and Learning and Development Supervisors in your territory to ensure that they are operating at the highest levels.<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with the Training Manager to ensure feedback from the field is translated to effective training content, systems and processes which further empower Teachers and Headmasters to lead successful schools.<\/li>\n<li>Empower L&amp;D Supervisors focus intensely on instructional leadership, including each teacher completing the scheduled lessons each day; on positive classroom and school management without corporal punishment; and school strength through retention, which is a sign of parents\u2019 belief in the positive contribution of the school.<\/li>\n<li>Provide management oversight to Learning and Development Supervisors in your region or territory and ensure operating performance and instructional learning targets are met.<\/li>\n<li>Provide coaching and mentoring to Learning and Development Supervisors in your region to help develop their management skills and support achievement of their academy goals.<\/li>\n<li>Regional Managers completely own (and therefore, are accountable for) the performance metrics of all of the schools in their territory, as measured by operational and\u00a0 instructional benchmarks<\/li>\n<li>This role requires a constant presence at the schools and close interaction with each School Head or School Administrator to ensure that there is continuous bi-directional communication and coaching.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to interactions with schools, the Regional Manager is expected to build close relationships with the local and state level government officials, the traditional and local community leaders, and Parents of the children in the school to promote the importance of education, garner support for the school and education ministry\u2019s activities as it relates to their children and to keep a constant monitor on their feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Must be ready to travel on a daily basis to schools in your region.
