The company\u2019s objective is to revolutionize the real estate industry to the point where participation is feasible across all classes of income.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Legal Officer<br \/>\nLocation:\u00a0<\/strong>Lagos<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nJob Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To meet the company\u2019s objectives, by executing all legal activities as required by the company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Organisational Relationships:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reports To: Chief Legal Officer<\/li>\n<li>Direct Reports: N\/A<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct in-house investigations, witness selection and compile documentary evidence to assist external solicitors in their defence\/prosecution of cases.<\/li>\n<li>Review and verify fee notes from external solicitors and process same for payment.<\/li>\n<li>Investigate legal claims\/complaints against the Company and prepare the appropriate response<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with the office of the Company Secretary regarding company secretarial needs of the Company.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct Legal due diligence checks and searches as required by the Company.<\/li>\n<li>Manage the Company\u2019s legal relations with government departments\/agencies and regulatory authorities.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor all existing and emerging laws\/regulations relevant to the Company\u2019s business<\/li>\n<li>Provide legal support to business units of the Company in negotiations with customers and vendors and ensure conformance with internal contracting requirements and risk mitigation requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake legal and commercial risk evaluation and advisory in respect of all transactions and general corporate compliance of the Company.<\/li>\n<li>Any other duties assigned by the Chief Legal Officer and Executive Management.<\/li>\n<li>Review and draft contractual agreements to ensure that clauses which protect the company\u2019s interests are incorporated therein and such contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Review and assist in the preparation of business proposals; ensuring the legal framework of said proposals is suitable for the Company\u2019s goals.<\/li>\n<li>Interpret contracts and legal documentation to user departments to aid their relations with clients and suppliers.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake legal research; prepare reports and legal opinions as required.<\/li>\n<li>Manage and update the company\u2019s litigation schedule.<\/li>\n<li>Manage external solicitors who represent the company in litigation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualification\/ Person Specification<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to take initiative<\/li>\n<li>Self motivated and committed to the delivery of excellent legal services<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent people management and strong listening skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of legal requirements and processes<\/li>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Law<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 3 years experience and must have been called to the Bar<\/li>\n<li>Real Estate experience is a must<\/li>\n<li>LLM will be an added advantage<\/li>\n<li>Excellent follow through, ability to pay attention to details.<\/li>\n<li>High level of professionalism and multitasking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Key Skills And Competencies: Skills And Competencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent people management and strong listening skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of legal requirements and processes<\/li>\n<li>Excellent follow through, ability to pay attention to details.<\/li>\n<li>High level of professionalism and multitasking.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to take initiative<\/li>\n<li>Self motivated and committed to the delivery of excellent legal services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should send their CV to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:recruitment@cmbnigeria.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>recruitment@cmbnigeria.com<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and state the Job Role as the Subject.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0<\/strong>14th January, 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:\u00a0<\/strong>Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CMB Building, Maintenance &amp; Investment Co.
