Founded in 1945 to free humanity from hunger and malnutrition, achieving food security is at the heart of FAO.<\/p>\n<p>Our three main goals are: the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all; and the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including land, water, air, climate and genetic resources for the bene\u00adfit of present and future generations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: FAO) RAF Internship Programme<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Organizational Unit:<\/strong>\u00a0FAO Regional Office for Africa (RAF), Subregional and Country Offices under RAF<br \/>\n<strong>Job Type:<\/strong>\u00a0Internship<br \/>\n<strong>Type of Requisition:<\/strong>\u00a0Internship Programme<br \/>\n<strong>Primary Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Various Locations<br \/>\n<strong>Duration:\u00a0<\/strong>From 3 months to 11 months<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organizational Setting<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Internship Programme is a learning opportunity aiming to attract talented young women and men who are strongly motivated to share their new perspectives, innovative ideas and latest research experience in FAO\u2019s domains. The programme provides selected students, enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate degree programme or recent graduates with the opportunity to supplement, their academic knowledge with a practical work assignment in a field related to the work of FAO. This will enable them to gain a better understanding of FAO\u2019s mandate and programmes. At the same time, the Programme provides FAO with the assistance of qualified individuals specializing in relevant fields in connection to\u00a0<u>FAO Strategic Objectives<\/u>\u00a0and\u00a0<u>UN Sustainable Development Goals<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) leads international efforts to defeat hunger and to support development in member countries in the areas of agriculture, fisheries and forestry. FAO\u2019s mandate is to raise levels of nutrition, improve agricultural productivity, better the lives of rural populations and contribute to the growth of the world economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reporting Lines<\/strong><br \/>\nThe intern will report to an assigned supervisor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technical Focus\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThe intern will be assigned to different fields of work according to his\/her profile and to the needs of the Organization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasks and responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\nThe intern will perform the functions specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office before the beginning of the assignment and agreed by the intern.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrolled in an under-graduate, graduate degree programme in a\u00a0<em>bona fide<\/em>\u00a0(i.e. listed in the IAU\/UNESCO data base) educational institution at the time of application or recent graduates.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates must specialize in a field relevant to the mission and work of FAO.<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, French, English, Russian or Spanish). Knowledge of a second FAO language will be considered an asset.
