Working with various partners across sub-Saharan Africa, we improve livelihoods, enhance food and nutrition security, increase employment, and preserve natural resource integrity. IITA is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Laboratory Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ref:<\/strong> IITA-HR-NRS2019-007<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Ibadan, Oyo<br \/>\n<strong>Contract:<\/strong> 2-years renewable contract<br \/>\n<strong>Recruitment Type:<\/strong> National (2-years renewable contract)\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><br \/>\nSuccessful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure implementation of GHU standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control and quality assurance as per the GHU QMS systems<\/li>\n<li>Manage GHU service requests (permits, pre- and post-entry inspections, seed health testing and other related) monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of sevice;<\/li>\n<li>Manage and safe keep GHU research records, service requests and electronic data (data management and documentation);<\/li>\n<li>Report non-compliance, including documenting the instances as how procedures were abated and report immediately or on weekly basis to the supervisor.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as liason with internal clients and quaratine authorities;<\/li>\n<li>Conduct research and services as directed including seed health testing and diagnostics;<\/li>\n<li>Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualification<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>M.Sc in Plant Biology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Biotechnology or related field with minimum of five (5) years\u2019 experience performing similar or related roles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies<\/strong><br \/>\nThe ideal candidate must have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Be familiar with the latest policies and phytosanitary procedure and diagnostics to stay abreast with advancements;<\/li>\n<li>Submit reports as per the reporting guidelines and timeline to supervisor.<\/li>\n<li>Provide timely response to general enquires from supervisor, staff and partners;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure full compliance to GHU SOPs;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remuneration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We offer highly competitive salary with equally attractive benefits and excellent working conditions in a pleasant campus environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested applicants should complete the online application attaching detailed cover letter and Curriculum Vitae saved with their names in Microsoft word format.
