Breakthrough ACTION\/Nigeria (BA\/N) focuses on malaria; maternal, newborn, and child health including nutrition (MNCH+N); family planning (FP); and tuberculosis (TB); and increasing the capacity of national and sub-national entities to coordinate and oversee quality SBC programming.<\/p>\n<p>BA\/N will collaborate closely with the relevant USAID service delivery and commodities implementation partners from the outset to ensure seamless coordination between supply, demand, and quality of services. BA\/N will work at the national level and in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Three states will implement an integrated SBC approach, seven states will implement a malaria-only SBC approach, and FCT will implement an FP-only SBC approach. We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Community Capacity Assistant<\/strong><br \/>\nJob Ref.: 190000QZ<br \/>\n<strong>Locations:<\/strong>\u00a0Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto<br \/>\nEmployee Status: Fixed Term<br \/>\n<strong>Role Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Community Mobilization Assistant will provide will provide technical, programmatic, and administrative support.<\/li>\n<li>Initially, the major focus of the community capacity component will be in the three Integrated SBC states:\u00a0 Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto, though there may be expansion in other states pending directives from the funder.<\/li>\n<li>S\/he will work closely with the project technical staff and the community to ensure all project activities run smoothly.<\/li>\n<li>He\/She will support the state programme teams in planning and programme implementation of the community capacity component.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Areas of Accountability<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contribute to technical work related to community capacity strengthening, including strategies, toolkits, communication materials, etc;<\/li>\n<li>Assist to develop SBCC materials, including job aides, for use by community volunteers on a variety of MNCH+N topics;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the drafting and implementation of approved workplans;<\/li>\n<li>Provide weekly field reports, capturing activities progress, lessons learned as well as general situation and community updates and needs; and collaborate with relevant teams to ensure documentation of all community mobilization and M&amp;E activities;<\/li>\n<li>Assist the supervisor with the development and implementation of the Advocacy, Demand Generation and Service Provider components of the project in the State, as assigned;<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the establishment and maintenance of effective relationships at the State level with health partners, implementing partners, State MOHs and other key stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Mobilize community-based groups, including WDCs, VDCs, community influencers and opinion leaders.<\/li>\n<li>Promote community participation and inclusion so as to encourage community ownership over activities implemented;<\/li>\n<li>Monitor project events and stakeholder\u2019s activities in coordination with project technical leads and capture success stories, to effectively capture lessons learnt on the ground from the projects;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skills &amp; Experience<\/strong><br \/>\nEssential:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Level of Education \u2013 First degree BSc\/BA\/HND in Communications, Journalism, Social Work, Psychology, Health, or related Social Science field<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work successfully in a cross-cultural, team-based environment<\/li>\n<li>Fluent English language skills (written and verbal).<\/li>\n<li>Fluent English language skills (written and verbal).<\/li>\n<li>Local language skills especially Hausa<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to the values, mission, aims and policies of Save the Children.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 2 years\u2019 experience working with donor-funded projects in related tasks<\/li>\n<li>Prior work experience in community engagement in Northern Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>Working Knowledge of MS Office Packages and database softwares and applications<\/li>\n<li>Well-organized, with ability to track multiple activities and deadlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nHow to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/stcuk.taleo.net\/careersection\/ex\/jobdetail.ftl?job=190000QZ&amp;tz=GMT%2B01%3A00&amp;tzname=Africa%2FLagos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Click here to apply<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>10th April, 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Breakthrough ACTION (BA) is a five-year cooperative agreement from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to lead USAID\u2019s social and behavior change (SBC) programming around the world.
