We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Assistant Security Liaison Officer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Abuja<br \/>\n<strong>Ref Id:<\/strong> A\/SLO (33\/19 ABJ)<br \/>\n<strong>Job Category:<\/strong> Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Operations and Corporate Services)<br \/>\n<strong>Job Subcategory:<\/strong> Security<br \/>\n<strong>Type of Position:<\/strong> Fixed Term, Full-time<br \/>\n<strong>Working hours per week:<\/strong> 35<br \/>\n<strong>Duration of Post:<\/strong> 24 months<br \/>\n<strong>Start Date:<\/strong> 1 November 2019<br \/>\n<strong>Grade:<\/strong> B3 (L)<br \/>\n<strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Assistant Security Liaison Officer (A\/SLO) will fulfil an important role within the British High Commission\u2019s Expeditionary Security Team. They will be involved in all phases of expeditionary travel for staff, which is to areas where British Government advises against travel or limited travel. The existing expeditionary security framework includes the administrative and actual preparation of travellers, the deployment of the travellers and post deployment activities.<\/li>\n<li>The A\/SLO under the guidance of his line-manager the Security Liaison Officer (SLO) will build on and maintain strong contacts within key Host State government authorities and other key partner entities (INGOs, UN, and Private Security Providers). This will involve the highest level of diplomacy and liaison with the various stakeholders on a varied range of security issues. This will involve frequent trips to the region to conduct liaison and fact finding activities and also whilst accompanying travellers on their journeys as the security subject matter expert (SME).<\/li>\n<li>As stated above the A\/SLO will routinely undertake other roles to enable the services provided to BHC and visiting staff by the Expeditionary Security Team. This will include conducting risk assessments, reviewing travel requests, briefing travellers and senior managers.<\/li>\n<li>Due to the nature of the role it is necessary that any applicant be security cleared to SC status, or demonstrate that they can obtain such clearance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing support in the first instance to the SLO;<\/li>\n<li>Providing routine support to the Expeditionary Security Team as directed, especially in the area of Travel Risks Assessment (this is a key legal element of our duty of care to take reasonable measures to protect staff from reasonably foreseeable harm);<\/li>\n<li>Ensure and maintain secure environments for travellers and staff working permanently in expeditionary areas;<\/li>\n<li>Provide security related advice to deployed staff;<\/li>\n<li>Manage financial related aspects of deployments with relevant security stakeholders;<\/li>\n<li>Assist the team in the assessing and analysing of vulnerabilities and risk to the regions travelled to;<\/li>\n<li>Plan and prepare to minimise threats, vulnerabilities and risks to traveling staff;<\/li>\n<li>Liaise and communicate with travellers and others on all subjects relevant to the trip;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nEssential qualifications, skills and experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proven security related liaison experience<\/li>\n<li>Able to display sound judgement and common sense when given a task, or being asked for advice<\/li>\n<li>Good communications skills<\/li>\n<li>Fluent in English language (Excellent written and oral).<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working in the North or\/and the North-East of Nigeria<\/li>\n<li>Experience of producing reports<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of working in a security role without direct supervision in a fragile environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable qualifications, skills and experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of regional languages<\/li>\n<li>Previous working with INGOs or UN in Nigeria<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of dealing with service providers and stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Higher Education obtained (resulting in the award of an academic degree).<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Standard Physical Security<\/li>\n<li>Previous working with Nigerian military or \/ and police<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seeing the Big Picture, Making Effective Decisions, Leading and Communicating, Collaborating and Partnering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remuneration<\/strong><br \/>\nStarting monthly salary \u2013 N 514,765.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other benefits and conditions of
