Our mission is to provide aid as quickly and as efficiently as possible to endangered populations by meeting their vital needs:\u00a0 water, food and shelter.<\/p>\n<p>SI has started activities in North-eastern Nigeria in August 2016 in the fields of Wash and is now intervening in 4 areas of the state for Wash and Shelter activities. We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nJob Title:\u00a0WASH Coordinator<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Maiduguri, Borno<br \/>\n<strong>Job number:<\/strong> SRH03516<br \/>\n<strong>Domaine de competence:<\/strong> Water Sanitation and Hygiene promotion<br \/>\n<strong>Contract Type:<\/strong> Short term contract<br \/>\n<strong>Desired start date:<\/strong> 01\/10\/2019<br \/>\n<strong>Duration of the mission:<\/strong> 1 year<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nAbout the mission<\/strong><br \/>\nThe current political and military crisis has affected millions of lives in Nigeria and SI is answering the needs of displaced populations and host communities in Borno State. The targeted areas of intervention are WASH, shelter, logistics, food security and livelihood. Seven programs are currently running:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Multi-sectorial project over 3 years in Monguno, Ngala, Askira\/Uba and Hawul in consortium with ALIMA and funded by EuropeAid<\/li>\n<li>Logistic Platform project funded by WFP in Monguno<\/li>\n<li>WASH response for vulnerable IDPs and host communities in Dikwa funded by CDC<\/li>\n<li>Emergency WASH response for new onset manmade disaster in Ngala funded by NHF<\/li>\n<li>This mission has potential to continue developing relevant and mandate-based interventions to cover the needs in the area and to ensure humanitarian impact. The teams are well staffed with very diverse profiles.<\/li>\n<li>Emergency WASH and Shelter response funded by OFDA in Maiduguri, Monguno, Dikwa, Ngala<\/li>\n<li>Emergency WASH in Health funded by ECHO \u2013 in consortium with ALIMA in Maiduguri and Monguno<\/li>\n<li>Emergency WASH funded by ECHO in Maiduguri, Monguno and Dikwa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Here are the key numbers about the mission:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5 bases (Maiduguri, Abuja, Dikwa, Ngala and Monguno) plus Coordination Office in Maiduguri.<\/li>\n<li>The number of expatriates is around 20<\/li>\n<li>The national staff are approximately 200<\/li>\n<li>The total budget of the mission is around 7,5 million euros<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About the Job<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The WASH coordinator contributes to the development of Solidarit\u00e9s International strategy by proposing a sector-based strategy in the field of WASH.<\/li>\n<li>He\/she specifically guarantees the quality and suitability of proposed technical approaches and ensures the appropriateness of WASH activities and general SI objectives to the needs of the local populations.<\/li>\n<li>He\/she coordinates the project cycle and more particularly the operational monitoring of WASH programs implemented in the intervention country.<\/li>\n<li>He\/she contributes to the process of capitalization and the improvement of Solidarit\u00e9s International methods and techniques in the field of WASH.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Main Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\nStrategic orientation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Propose and develop a sector-based strategy in accordance with SI\u2019s policies and priorities for the intervention country.<\/li>\n<li>Support the Deputy Country Director in the monitoring and analysis of the WASH sector and the analysis of donors\u2019 strategies for WASH activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Relevance and quality of projects:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Propose and organize evaluation missions<\/li>\n<li>Approve the technical approaches and aspects of projects for WASH activities<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all WASH programs are implemented respecting Solidarit\u00e9s International annual operational strategy, technical requirements, and the criteria stipulated by financial backers.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the relevance and consistency of WASH programs vis-\u00e0-vis the needs of the local populations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Coordination, technical support and operational monitoring:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that the planning and monitoring timetable is consolidated \/ validated<\/li>\n<li>Approve the quality criteria and performance indicators of WASH programs proposed by the program managers.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a technical and methodological support to program managers for the planning and implementation of WASH activities<\/li>\n<li>Supervise and support the WASH program managers, monitor and evaluate WASH activities implemented<\/li>\n<li>Propose the reorientation of WASH activities according to changing context and indicators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Capitalization:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that Solidarit\u00e9s International\u2019s capitalization tools are correctly used and disseminated throughout HQ (technical unit and desks)<\/li>\n<li>Form a network of WASH experts, develop technical partnerships with others actors in this sector of the intervention zone and regularly keep the technical unit informed of this<\/li>\n<li>In coordination with the technical unit, capitalize on the intervention methods and techniques, and on the experiences acquired by Solidarit\u00e9s International and others actors in this activity field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Personnel management:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Welcome and brief expatriates working on WASH programs<\/li>\n<li>Identify training requirements within the WASH team and the resources available in the work area<\/li>\n<li>Implement technical training in line with operational needs identified by training requirements<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate and assess the performance of collaborators under his\/her direct supervision<\/li>\n<li>Actively participate in the organization of regional technical weeks and compiling reports of these work sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reporting \/ communication \/ representation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the Deputy Country Director with fundraising and the negotiation and examination of project proposals relating to his\/her activity<\/li>\n<li>Consolidate WASH activity reports and supervise the preparation annexes linked to WASH activities for reports and\/or financial donors<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that SI is represented at all meetings or forums concerning WASH activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Your profile<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree in WASH related sector, Engineering, Environment and\/or Geology<\/li>\n<li>Good and proven writing and spoken English<\/li>\n<li>Strong HR management skills with field experience in delivering training and capacity building<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analytical skills.<\/li>\n<li>Capacity to work under pressure to tight deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Good organization skills.<\/li>\n<li>Anticipation and self-organization capacities<\/li>\n<li>Great work and stress management capacities<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to work in complex and volatile environments.<\/li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of project cycle management, project design and proposal writing<\/li>\n<li>Strong technical knowledge on water supply (hydrogeology, boreholes drilling and O&amp;M, wells construction, stream catchment and gravity flow network design and management) and Sanitation.<\/li>\n<li>Previous field humanitarian experience as a Wash Coordinator in emergency context<\/li>\n<li>Experience in tensed context in terms of security<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SI will offer you<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to experiences, salary starts from 2400 euros gross per month (+10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of 600 USD.<\/li>\n<li>SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate\u2019s country of origin and the place of assignment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Vacation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of one break every three months. SI offers you 7 working days ever three months, with a 850 USD allowance for each break. In addition to these regular breaks, SI adds a day off per worked month. These days off as well as the breaks are not deducted from the paid leaves that are paid every months with your salary as they are offered by the organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Social and medical cover:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Expatriates benefit from an insurance package, which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Living conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The living conditions are comfortable (A.C, comfortable beds, TV, tennis table, good cooking etc.) with possibility of finding a wide range of goods for cooking.
