\"\"<\/a>Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC)<\/strong> with Imperial College London, University College London and Leeds University are delighted to announce the continuation of the SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme for the 2011\/2012 academic session for applicants from Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States. The objectives of the scheme are to give talented student from the three Niger Delta states an opportunity to further their education at prestigious universities in the UK. The scholarships are being offered in fields of study that are relevant to the oil and gas industry.<\/p>\n

The scholarship award will cover the tuition fees, one return flight from Nigeria to UK and a contribution toward living expenses (based on annual British council rates). Under the scheme, up to 10 scholarships will be awarded for one-year post-graduate studies in any of the following courses:<\/p>\n

IMPERIAL COLLEGE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

(i) MSc Petroleum engineering<\/p>\n

(ii) MSc Petroleum Geoscience<\/p>\n

(iii) MSc Petroleum Geophysics<\/p>\n

(iv) MSc Engineering Geology<\/p>\n

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

(v) MSc Chemical Processing<\/p>\n

(vi) MSc Mechanical Engineering<\/p>\n

(vii) MSc Civil Engineering<\/p>\n

LEEDS UNIVERSITY:<\/strong><\/p>\n

(viii) MSc Exploration Geophysics<\/p>\n

(ix) MSc (Eng) Oilfield Corrosion Engineering<\/p>\n

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA<\/strong><\/p>\n

The competition for scholarship will be intense and applicant must:<\/p>\n

Display intellectual ability and leadership potential;
\nDisplay high proficiency in English language, i.e. at least 6.5 in the international English Language Testing Scheme and meet the university\u2019s language requirement;
\nBe between 21-30 years;
\nIndigenes of Bayelsa, Delta or Rivers States, provide documentary evidence therefore and currently reside in Nigeria.
\nIntend to return and take up permanent residence in Nigeria after completion of the proposed programme of study;
\nHave obtained a degree or at least equivalent standard to a UK Upper second Class (Honours Degree);
\nHave confirmed admission into any of the specified courses.
\nBe neither a current nor former employee (who has left employment less than 5 years before) of SPDC or the Royal Dutch Shell Group of Companies;<\/p>\n

Not previously have studied in the UK or other developed country.
\nScholarship application forms will be available only through relevant participating University following admission. The submission deadline for scholarship applications for the 2011\/2012 academic year is March 28, 2011.<\/p>\n
