We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0WASH Officer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Damasak, Borno<br \/>\n<strong>Job Type:<\/strong> Full Time<br \/>\n<strong>Department:<\/strong> Programmes \u2013 WASH Mid Level<br \/>\n<strong>Start date:<\/strong> As Soon As Possible<br \/>\n<strong>Direct Line Manager:<\/strong> WASH Sector Manager<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overall supervision of water and sanitation construction activities including preparing technical designs and bills of quantities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tasks and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fully participate in and\/or facilitate technical assessments<\/li>\n<li>To visit sites and ensure quality assurance of construction being delivered and adherence to design specifications<\/li>\n<li>To coordinate technical workshops in the targeted health facilities with surrounding\/close by communities (practical organization and liaison with the key persons)<\/li>\n<li>To make sure that the technical activities are up to the ACF standards (WASH package)<\/li>\n<li>To visit regularly the field activities<\/li>\n<li>Continually assess emergency needs alongside the Public health promotion team, as requested, especially taking in the broader perspective of public health<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that work meets with SPHERE minimum standards<\/li>\n<li>Assist and participate in community mobilization<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all technical work reflects the needs and preferences of different target groups<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the writing of timely weekly\/monthly activity reports on the project<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the bacteriological and chemical testing of water sources, water storage containers, and household drinking water at the point of consumption as defined in the monitoring plan<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Sector Manager in the selection, design, and construction of water systems, using groundwater or surface water, including abstraction, storage, treatment and distribution for new systems or rehabilitation of existing systems<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical assistance to the Sector Manager to assess sanitation needs, provide design\/BOQ and implement the most appropriate form of sanitation system, in consultation with male and female beneficiaries, which includes excreta disposal, refuse disposal, vector control, and drainage<\/li>\n<li>Consider different maintenance mechanisms, ensuring that they are appropriate to the local context and cultural norms and that facilities are sustainable<\/li>\n<li>Prepare a Written Work Instruction for use on-site to bring clarity to the contractor\u2019s roles and responsibilities in each stage of the execution of construction activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Objective 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Train and build the capacity of staffs and partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tasks and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare training tools on relevant technical topics and conduct training for both internal staff and external stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Assist the WASH Sector manager in the development of technical guidelines and tools<\/li>\n<li>Assess areas for improvement and recording lessons learned for future activities<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for managing WASH technical assistants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Objective 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate with internal staff and local stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tasks and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Liaise closely with the WASH PHP team throughout the planning, design and implementation stages of the WASH technical activities. Hygiene promotion is a vital element in such infrastructure activities, especially in cholera responses<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that effective communication and networking is developed and maintained through partnership and collaboration<\/li>\n<li>Team with local Government and sectoral stakeholders\/counterparts to exchange information on WASH technical implementation status<\/li>\n<li>Build a database of technical support projects and share with relevant stakeholders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Objective 4<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To communicate &amp; report WASH technical activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tasks and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To participate in base meetings<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating with other disciplinary teams or the on-site construction supervision personnel on technical matters.<\/li>\n<li>Provide full support to WASH Sector Manager in maintaining regular contact with local stakeholders including Government Ministries\/Department\/Agencies<\/li>\n<li>Preparation of technical progress reports and report verbally and in writing to the WASH Sector Manager as requested to advice on\u00a0 progress, constraints and any other issues that may impact on work plans<\/li>\n<li>To compile feasibility and other technical reports for information and guidance in Action Against Hunger<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with Other Team members to develop training, Monitoring and Evaluation reports<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Position Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nQualifications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Degree \/ HND in Water Engineering, Hydrology, Civil Engineering and other related fields with a minimum of 2 years field experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skills &amp; Experience:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Essential:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience in supervising drilling and construction activities<\/li>\n<li>Professional, good organizational capacity, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible and, culturally sensitive<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of appropriate technology for latrine construction, de-sludging and sludge treatment practices, water source development, solid waste management<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in Hausa, Kanuri, and English<\/li>\n<li>Team and contractor management skills<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring and reporting Skills<\/li>\n<li>Thorough knowledge of WASH interventions using the SPHERE standards<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to Action Against Hunger mission, values, and policy<\/li>\n<li>Three years of relevant work experience<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Office and designing software Skills (AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)<\/li>\n<li>Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience of work in the humanitarian sector<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of the intervention area\/s and local economy<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience with Action Against Hunger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Minimum Basic Salary<\/strong><br \/>\n236,585 per month<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>To Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/acfinternational.applytojob.com\/apply\/dvpFpWmMQs\/WASH-Officer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Click here to apply<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:\u00a0<\/strong>Qualified women are strongly encouraged to apply<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>20th May, 2020.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Action Against Hunger is the world\u2019s hunger specialist and leader in a global movement that aims to end life-threatening hunger for good within our lifetimes.
