Our work combines counselling, family mediation, business support, school building, teacher training and child protection.\u00a0 We were a key player in the Ebola crisis and led the global response for children orphaned by Ebola in Sierra Leone and Liberia. We deliver all our programmes through local partners and, since 2008, together we have built\/renovated over 200 schools and are now helping to educate over 40,000 young people. We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Education Programme Officer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Maiduguri, Borno, with travel around NE Nigeria<br \/>\n<strong>Report to:<\/strong> Education Officer<br \/>\n<strong>Specification:<\/strong> Nigerian Nationals Only<br \/>\n<strong>Starting from:<\/strong> As soon as possible<br \/>\n<strong>Contract duration:<\/strong> 1 Year<\/p>\n<p><strong>Operational \/ Context Role<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Street Child is looking for a dedicated Programme Officer for our Education Projects across the North East. Street Child is implementing several UNICEF-funded projects in NE Nigeria. The goal is address out of school children issues across the conflict affected areas and ensuring that they are all receiving a safe and quality level of education.<\/li>\n<li>As part of Street Child\u2019s global mission, all of the projects focus on building capacity and strengthening partnership with both government and non-government actors.<\/li>\n<li>The Programme Officer will be required to support the Education Manager on all aspect of project delivery. This includes implementation of project activities, reporting and partner monitoring.<\/li>\n<li>The person will be required to work flexibly and provide ad-hoc support to the Education Manager as necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Good communication and team-working skills are essential, and the candidate must also be able to work independently. Analytical thinking, problem-solving and flexibility are expected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\nProgramme Delivery:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the Education Manager to deliver timely planned activities<\/li>\n<li>Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure best practice is adhered to in project implementation<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with implementing partners to ensure quality implementation and accurate reporting<\/li>\n<li>Support the Education Manager to identify and report problems with project implementation as they arise<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reporting:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the Education Manager in keeping the Programme Manager informed on activity progress, including through regular reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Partner Liaison:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the Education Manager in identifying partner training\/capacity building needs and conducting capacity building trainings<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with implementing partners to prepare and submit reports on approved frequency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Behaviours:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good interpersonal, listening and communication skills;<\/li>\n<li>An energetic team player who can effectively collaborate, and who can stand alone when necessary;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to work and deliver under pressure and tight deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to positively influence others and successfully reconcile differences;<\/li>\n<li>A self-starter with a strong results orientation and with high levels of integrity, credibility and dependability;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Core Values:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commitment to Street Child mission, vision and values, and the ability to convey with enthusiasm Street Child\u2019s role in accompanying and serving forcibly displaced people and in advocating for their right to protection and a life in dignity;<\/li>\n<li>Acceptance of diversity and inclusion as a core value.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to work in flexible, sub-optimal, stressful and unstable environment.<\/li>\n<li>This role will involve working with vulnerable people and children, and requires relevant knowledge of safeguarding principles<\/li>\n<li>High integrity, honesty and confidentiality; ability to deal tactfully and discreetly with situations, people and information;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualification and Experience<\/strong><br \/>\nExperience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience (at least 2 year) of working in Nigeria on Edcation<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working in Borno State (an advantage, but not an requirement)<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Technical skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking and planning skills.<\/li>\n<li>Strong monitoring and evaluation skills\/experience<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of project cycle management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Language:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Terms and Conditions &amp; Remuneration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contract is for 1 Year, with an initial probationary period of 3 month.
