U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission\u2019s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Cultural Affairs Assistant<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Announcement Number:<\/strong> Abuja-2020-025<br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Abuja<br \/>\n<strong>Series\/Grade:<\/strong> LE &#8211; 6005 8<br \/>\n<strong>Work Schedule:<\/strong> Full-time &#8211; 40 hours per week<br \/>\n<strong>Promotion Potential:<\/strong> LE-8<br \/>\n<strong>Telework Eligible:<\/strong> No<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hiring Path: Open to the public<\/li>\n<li>Security Clearance Required: Public Trust &#8211; Background Investigation<\/li>\n<li>Appointment Type: Permanent<\/li>\n<li>Appointment Type Details: Indefinite subject to successful completion of probationary period<\/li>\n<li>Marketing Statement: We encourage you to read and understand the Eight (8) Qualities of Overseas Employees before you apply.<\/li>\n<li>Summary: The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40\u00a0 hours per week)<\/li>\n<li>Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (6 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and\/or clearances\/certifications or their candidacy may end.<\/li>\n<li>Supervisory Position: No<\/li>\n<li>Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: No<\/li>\n<li>Travel Required: Not Required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who May Apply\/Clarification From the Agency:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For USEFM &#8211; FP is 06\u00a0 Actual FP salary determined by Washing D.C.<\/li>\n<li>All Interested Applicants \/ All Sources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the supervision of the Cultural Affairs Officer (CAO), the incumbent serves as one of two of Public Affairs Section (PAS) Abuja&#8217;s primary Grants Officer Representatives.<\/li>\n<li>S\/he also provides program logistical, budgetary, program, and technical assistance to the Cultural Affairs Team and collects timely data from the Cultural Affairs Team to input into the Mission Activity Tracker (MAT).<\/li>\n<li>In addition, incumbent plans and leads PAS Abuja special outreach arts-related programs targeting youth, women, and conflict resolution activists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements, Qualifications and Evaluations<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a multilingual, multicultural, or multinational work environment is required, with project management, marketing, public relations, communication, or education duties as a significant part of the job.<\/li>\n<li>Job Knowledge:\u00a0 Working knowledge of Nigeria political, economic, social, and educational structure; institutions, political parties, and cultural movements; historical development and its key personalities is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Education Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in International Relations, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, American Studies, Intercultural \/ Multicultural Studies or local equivalent is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Evaluations &#8211; \u201cThis may be tested. Please specify in your application your level of proficiency in the Languages listed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Language:\u00a0 Fluent in Speaking\/Reading\/Writing English is required. Good working knowledge in speaking Hausa Language is required.<\/li>\n<li>Skills And Abilities: Ability to plan for and meet the needs of staff for logistical support for cultural events and projects is required. Ability to independently follow up on a variety of administrative details in connection with programming of speakers and thematic programs is required.
