The Governing Council of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai hereby announces that the position of VICE CHANCELLOR of the University is vacant. The Council, hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates with cognate experience in University teaching and administration for the post.

The Job:
• The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University, ex-officio Chairman of the Senate and Member of the Governing Council of the University.
Among other functions, the Vice Chancellor shall:
• Be competent at all times to advise the Council on any matter affecting the policy, finance and administration of the University;
• Be generally responsible to the Council for maintaining the efficiency and good order of the University and for ensuring the proper enforcement of Laws and Regulations;
• Be responsible for discipline in the University;
• Regulate the admission of the students in accordance with the approve guidelines and procedures.

The applicant must:
• Be a distinguished Professor with demonstrated ability to provide exemplary academic leadership and proven management capacity;
• Be a scholar of outstanding national and international repute.
• Be a person of strong character and ability to give courageous and effective leadership.
• Be a person capable of inspiring the advancement of learning and reaching out to all “persons without discrimination;
• Be of high integrity and strong moral character to inspire and maintain discipline among staff and students;
• Have irrevocable commitment to best practices in corporate governance, with particular emphasis on accountability, transparency and probity;
• Demonstrate commitment to the cardinal values of merit consistency and fairness as operating principles and can apply these across abroad;
• Have a core discipline or area of specialization to one of the Departments in the University;
• Be able to attract research grants and complementary funds from local and International agencies, and further uplift the academic stature of the University;
• Be a person who is not likely to foster personal, ethnic, political, religious or other sectional interest;
• Have a good understanding of the Vision and Mission of the University;
• Should be in a position to ensure the enforcement of University laws and regulations; and
• Must be of sound health and pleasant disposition.

Conditions of Service:
• The salaries and condition of service are as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellor in Nigerian Universities.
Tenure:
• The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a one-term period of five (5) years.

Method of Application:

1. Each application letter (30 copies) should be accompanied by 30 copies of the candidate’s detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) signed and dated by the candidate.
The CV must contain, among others:
• The candidate’s name in full, age, marital status, nationality, current address including e-mail and telephone number,
• Educational qualification with dates, number of PhD candidates supervised and graduated, research output, academic and non-academic recognition,
• Professional achievements, scholarly publications in renowned national and international journals with dates and books.

2. Each application should be accompanied by a certificate of birth or statutory declaration of age and certificate of medical fitness based on documented comprehensive, medical examination from a government hospital.

3. A statement of the candidate’s vision for the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai of the 21st century of not more than 1000 words (30 copies).

4. Each candidate must have three (3) referees who should be requested by the candidate to forward their referee’s reports directly to the Registrar under confidential cover. Such referees should be In a position to attest to the candidate’s claim to high academic standard, managerial capacity and moral uprightness.

5. All short listed candidates will be required to make themselves available for interaction with the Joint Council-Senate Selection Board.

Candidates for the positions listed above must satisfy the following qualifications and requirements:
1. Registrar:
• Candidate must possess a good degree from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification plus at least 15 years relevant post qualification experience, a considerable part of which must be in a higher institution administration, preferably in a University.
• A Master’s degree plus 10 years post qualification experience, a considerable part of which must be in a higher institution administration.
• She/He must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills.

2. Bursar:
• Candidate must have an honors degree in Accounting from a recognized University with a minimum of 15 years post qualification experience.
• Candidate must also possess professional Accounting qualification such as ICAN/ANAN plus 10 years post qualification experience.
• Possession of a higher degree in Accountancy with adequate post qualification experience will be an added advantage.

3. University Librarian:
• Candidate should hold good honors degree from a recognized University plus a professional post graduate qualification e.g. MLS, PGD in Librarianship with at least 12 years post qualification experience of which 8 years must be spent in Senior Librarian Administration in an organization preferably in the University system. .
• A professional qualification e.g. ALA, FLA, with at least 12 years post qualification experience of which 8 years must be spent in Senior Librarian Administration in an organization preferably in the University system.
• Candidate should show evidence of good research record and reasonable number of scholarly publications in reputable journals.
• Possession of additional higher degree in any field of Librarianship will be an added advantage.

Conditions of Service:
• Successful candidates will be required to assume duty as soon as possible.
• Conditions of Service are similar to those obtaining in Nigerian Universities.
