An Ecommerce fashion company located in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State is looking to hire a female Merchandising & Buying Executive (“M&B Executive”).

The M&B Executive reports to the CEO and is to ensure that products appear on the website, at the appropriate time and in the correct quantities. This involves accurately forecasting trends, planning stock levels and monitoring performance. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the sales of this new start-up. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual who wants to be part of a key growth business channel and plays a key role as profits can be affected by how successfully they undertake their work. The M&B Executive also sets prices to maximise profits and manage the performance of ranges, planning promotions and markdowns as necessary, and oversees delivery and distribution.

Responsibilities

  • planning product ranges and preparing sales and stock plans;
  • liaising face to face or over the phone with customers, suppliers and distributors;
  • maintaining a comprehensive library of appropriate data;
  • overseeing and working closely with tailors to ensure timelines are met;
  • working closely with IT staff to decide how goods should be displayed online to maximise sales;
  • digital marketing;
  • forecasting profits and sales, and optimising the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas;
  • planning budgets and presenting sales forecasts and figures for new ranges;
  • manage operational challenges, provide escalation management, influence and balance business needs versus technical constraints, and maximize ROI while providing a great customer experience;
  • merchandise the company website and make it easy for customers to find, browse and buy products, services and content on site; Identify opportunities to improve site layout, look and feel, content, efficiency and automation and work cross-functionally to implement them;
  • create, plan and schedule site merchandising campaigns including new content launches and promotional campaigns;
  • partner with photography studio, content and buying colleagues to craft and execute promotional events, site merchandising campaigns and bespoke launches;
  • develop and customise email campaigns to acquire, grow and retain customers;
  • controlling stock levels based on forecasts for the season;
  • using specialist computer software, for example to handle sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets and graphs;
  • analysing every aspect of bestsellers (for example, the bestselling price points, colours or styles) and ensuring that they reach their full potential; monitoring slow sellers and taking action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary; gathering information on customers’ reactions to products; analysing the previous season’s sales and reporting on the current season’s lines;
  • maintaining awareness of competitors’ performance;
  • making financial presentations to management;
  • meeting with suppliers and managing the distribution of stock, by negotiating cost prices, ordering stock, agreeing timescales and delivery dates and completing the necessary paperwork;
  • identifying production and supply difficulties and dealing with any problems or delays as they arise;

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be Female
  • Candidates for this position must possess minimum of a degree in a related discipline (graduate in fashion is desirable)
  • Candidates must have at least 2 years relevant and demonstrable previous experience in relevant role
  • Must be passionate about fashion, vibrant personality and self driven
  • Must have knowledge of Fabrics
  • Must be able to take measurements
  • Sketching skills are preferable
  • Candidate must be able to work independently and confidently
  • Excellent written English and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, particularly in managing time and tasks
  • Computer literate with at intermediate experience of the Microsoft suite of programs, particularly MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have digital marketing experience (digital marketing certification preferable)
  • Social media savvy
  • Experienced in managing data, spreadsheets and producing reports, KPIs and recommendations.
  • Experience of leading by example in delivering a high level of customer service individually and as part of a team.
