Job Title: Consultant Anaesthetist
Location:

Job Summary

  • This role is responsible for providing and administering anesthesia following approved guidelines and managing patients in the theatre.

Key Result Areas (KRA)
The key result areas of this role are:

Clinical Service Delivery:

  • To provide quality anesthetic care to patients
  • Develop, implement and maintain a quality assurance programme for the anesthetic and intensive care service
  • Execute thorough evaluation of patient’s medical and surgical history to ascertain history of drug acceptance and reaction.
  • Preparing patients for anesthesia and administering it
  • Providing pre and post-operative care to patient
  • Providing resuscitation services in case of emergency and disaster situations.

Administrative Functions:

  • Manage the administrative requirements of the hospital and patient care including planning and draft budgeting for anesthetic activities in the hospital.
  • Be aware of and adhere to all Lily Hospital policies and procedure in reference to clinical practice.
  • Coordinates the departmental activities with those of the hospital.
  • Ensure accomplishment of quality training in the department.

The Person

  • The job holder must have a license to practice Medicine from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
  • Must show evidence of competence in management of anesthesia cases and evidence of active participation in relevant  research
  • Minimum of 5 years cognate experience
  • The Anaesthetist must have a working knowledge of global quality assurance, clinical audit principles and processes and must exhibit a commitment towards continuous quality improvement
  • The Anaesthetist must have a minimum of 5 years and above cognate experience

Job Title: Peri-Operative Nurse
Locations:

Job Summary

  • The role is responsible for the daily functional operation of the pediatrics unit, delivery of patient /customer quality care, staff development and continuous quality improvement activities.

Key Result Areas (KRA)
CSSD Supervisor’s Functions
The key result areas of this role are:

Medical Responsibilities:

  • Oversees management of perioperative services operationally and fiscally.
  • Make recommendations to the matron/CNO concerning procedure or policy modifications when necessary and inform department staff of any new procedure or policy implementation introduced by the units’ administration.
  • Facilitates or serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care.
  • Verifies that perioperative personnel provide safe and effective patient-centered care in perioperative services.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, evaluate and supervise employees in the provision of patient care.
  • Responsible for administering budget, staffing the unit and overseeing staff training.
  • Maintain skill and knowledge by participating in various nurse education programs, seminars, staff meetings and workshops.

Administrative Duties:

  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Creates and conveys the mission and vision of perioperative services with the assistance of the management team.

The Person

  • Minimum academic qualification of a Registered Peri-Operative Nurse
  • 2 years and above relevant work experience in the health sector.
  • Possession of BLS and ACLS training certificate is an added advantage
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and must be licensed to practice a Registered Peri- Operative Nurse.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft office package.
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written), interpersonal and people management skills.

 

Job Title: Quality Assurance Officer

Job Summary

  • The quality assurance and improvement officer is responsible for ensuring the implementation and sustenance of policies, procedures and documentation of quality standards and for monitoring in line with the organisations policies and global standards.

Key Result Areas (KRA)

  • Support departments and business units in adhering to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), process manuals and operational guidelines.
  • Develop assessment tools and evaluate the impact of set standards, recommend improvements and ensure compliance by all staff members.
  • Gather reliable data on the process performance of the quality management system and their interrelationships.
  • Analyze feedback from patients’ evaluation of medical personnel and the entire hospital experience.
  • Execute regular spot checks on internal processes.
  • Administer the quality education process formulating quality improvement programmes for employees.
  • Conduct extended quality assurance audits on all third party suppliers and contractors for the organisation.

The Person

  • Must be a clinical personnel (pharmacist, radiographer or laboratory scientist)
  • 2 to 5 years relevant work experience on a similar role preferably in the Health sector.

Job Title: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Job Summary

  • The CNO is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and supervising the nurses and the effective and efficient use of health and medical related services for Lily Hospitals.

Managerial Functions:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to all Lily hospitals’ nursing staff, and monitor staff practices and implementation.
  • Ensure delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on unit, absence of odors, general cleanliness, prevention of pressure wounds, and apparent maintenance of optimal resident functions.
  • Provide direct supervision of all the nurses in Lily Hospitals.
  • Exercise overall supervision of resident assessments and care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor the infection control program designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment designed to prevent the devilment and transmission of disease and infection.
  • Coordinate and/or develop on-going QIPs and QA activities for nursing services to monitor nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements through rounds, interviews, and record reviews.
  • Develop and maintain documentation system for continuity of care and record storage that assures compliance with federal health regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations pertaining to care plans and residents assessment.
  • Participate in management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident complaints or concerns.

Staffing Functions:

  • Oversee nursing schedules to assure they meet resident needs, regulatory and budgetary standards.
  • Provide effective staff management (hiring, development, training, performance feedback and retention) that assures utilization of personnel to best meet the needs of the patients receiving supports and services.
  • Evaluate service needs and staffing requirements to assure needs of people supported are met.
  • Monitor the job performance of all Lily hospitals’ nurses, evaluate their performances and recommend promotions, trainings or terminations.
  • Recommend in service educational programs for staff development geared to the specialized needs of the patients.
  • Oversee and supervise development and delivery of in-service education to equip nursing staff with sufficient knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, quality care and respect for resident rights.

Financial Functions:

  • Participate in preparing the department’s annual budget.
  • Maintain operating budgets for personnel and medical equipment.

Patient Care:

  • Serve as a liaison between doctors, residents; their families and staff members.
  • Respond to inquiries in a professional, courteous and timely manner and provide information on Lily hospitals’ nursing care and services to the public.
  • Ensure patient care is provided in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patient’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights.

Health and Safety:

  • Promote compliance with accident prevention procedures, safety rules, and safe work practices to prevent employee injury and illness and control worker’s compensation costs.
  • Ensure staff is trained in fire and disaster and other emergency procedures, and evaluate performance during drills.
  • Ensure all nursing staff carries out duties and responsibilities in compliance with Lily hospitals’ health and safety policy and statutory regulations.
  • Ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment for patients, clients and members of staff.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum academic qualification of a Master’s Degree (M.Sc) in Nursing or any related science degree.
  • Registration with the National Association of Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and must be licensed to practice.
  • 8 to 10 years relevant work experience in the health sector, part of which must have been in a senior nursing position within or outside Nigeria.
  • Proven record of policy development and implementation.
  • Intermediate Knowledge of Microsoft office packages.
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written), interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Possess high degree of accuracy and attention to details.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety and injection control practices.

Job Title: Dietitian (RDN)

Job Summary

  • This role is responsible for translating scientific information about nutrition into practical advice to help patients make health-conscious decisions about food.
  • The dietician will also assess, diagnose and treat diet-related problems and aim to raise awareness of the link between food and health to prevent future problems.

Key Result Areas (KRA)
The key result areas of this role are:

  • Practice as a member of an interdisciplinary team to determine nutritional needs of patients and to plan normal and therapeutic menus.
  • Plan, Calculate and transcribe therapeutic diet into food according to prescription.
  • Supervision and preparation of special diets
  • Feeding of the critically ill, via the preparation of Nasogastric Tube feeds.
  • Responsible for the nutritional rehabilitation of the malnourished adults and children in the Hospital.
  • Participate on medical Consultants’ ward round
  • Educate patients through different media on different issues related to diet.
  • Attendance at the Clinical meetings.
  • Routine visits and dietary counseling of inpatients on the Wards, as may be scheduled by the physician.

The Person

  • Minimum academic qualification of a B.Sc./HND in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • 2 to 5 years relevant work experience on a similar role preferably in the Health sector.
  • Membership of the Dietitians Association of Nigeria (DAN) would be an added advantage.

Job Title: Radiologist
Location:

Job Summary

  • This role is responsible for providing high quality clinical radiological service that supports the diagnosis and treatment of patients in the hospital.

Key Result Areas (KRA)

Clinical Service Delivery:

  • To supervise and be responsible for the clinical work and keeping of records staff attached to his/her department in the hospital.
  • Undertake and report on radiological diagnostic and interventional procedures where appropriate for expertise and when credentialing requirements are met.
  • Provide expert advice to referring clinicians on the most appropriate diagnostic investigations.
  • Advice and support other radiology staff in the radiological process.
  • Contribute to quality patient care by participating in case planning with other members of the patient medial team.
  • To be “on-call” or participate in shift rosters is a requirement of the position

Administrative Functions:

  • Manage the administrative requirements of the hospital and patient care including ensuring discharge summaries and medico-legal correspondence are completed with no delay.
  • Be aware of and adhere to all Lily Hospital policies and procedure in reference to clinical practice.

  • Attend management meetings when necessary.

The Person

  • The job holder must have a license to practice medicine from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and should be a licensed Radiologist certified by the West African College of Surgeons or the National Post graduate Medical College.
  • The job holder must have good communication skills, a strong ability to work well under pressure, self discipline and excellent long term concentration.
  • Job holder must have a working knowledge of global quality assurance, clinical audit principles and processes and must exhibit a commitment towards continuous quality improvement.
  • Minimum of 5 years cognate experience.
